I’m Inge, and currently I live in the town Den Helder in the north-western part of the Netherlands. Surrounded by the sea at three sides, I feel at home here with my seven French bulldogs, Lance(lot), Bella, Wiebe, Annika, Tuur, Mr T and Bloem and my birds.
I started drawing at an early age. Together with my sister I thought up stories and put them to paper, not only by drawing but also by writing. We had a lot of fun in those days. Later that developed into drawing comics. And next to drawing comics, I have always done some animal drawing.
My love for drawing fantasy came when I discovered the comic Elfquest at the age of 15. I still admire Wendy Pini’s work and her art has been of great influence on my art style. Elfquest put me on the path of making fantasy comics, but because I was quite perfectionist in those days, it resulted in a artistic block for almost 6 years. It was quite an unhappy period, because drawing is my passion. It was on a Dutch Fantasy forum and through the art of the people I met there that I was able to break the block. These people became my very special artfriends.
The fantasy artist that inspires me most is Stephanie Pui-Mun Law. I greatly admire her work and one day I hope to become as good as she is with watercolours and give my paintings the same elegance and movement that I so admire in her work.
Nowadays I chiefly focus on making fantasy art. I just love to draw fairylike creatures and angels in woody environments or icy scenery. At the moment I also try to explorer the more darker edges of the fantasy genre in my drawing, but that isn’t showing in my gallery yet. And now and then I still cannot resist to do a animal drawing or a comic page.
My favorite mediums are: pencil, ink and watercolors.
